As writer/producer, Carolyn Black-Sotir
creates and produces special themed programs for cabaret, theatre, and symphony
pops programs. Most recently, she was commissioned to write, direct, and perform
in American Salute: Music of our Nation . In celebration of the Bicentennial of
the War of 1812 and the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, the musical tribute
was filmed for television broadcast and is scheduled for numerous performances.

Along with
producing eight touring productions dedicated to the music of American theatre,
she works as a director of opera. She directed scenes from
Anna Bolena, Carmen, L’incoronazione di Poppea , La Boheme, Dialogue of the
Carmelites, Suor Angelica, La Forza del Destino, Madama
Butterfly, Aida
for the
nationally recognized Maryland Opera Studio. She served as Assistant Director to
renown opera director Leon Major on the world premiere of
Shadowboxer,
an opera based on the life of legendary Joe Louis. Most recently, Carolyn worked
with celebrated Metropolitan Opera soprano Carmen Balthrop in staging
Miss Manners
on Music
as part of
Art of Argento,
a ten-day celebration of American Opera composer Dominick Argento.
